A unique event hosted by Jane and Brian: Firefighters, fire trucks, fire safety house, BBQ, games, cake... This party has it all. Come meet our brave Santa Barbara firefighters. They will arrive after school to talk about fire safety and give SBMS students a detailed tour of their specialized fire safety house. Afterward there will be plenty of activities and games. Followed by a delicious (fire safety aware...) BBQ dinner.

Can you name your favorite board game published since your kids were born? If so, you already know you’ll have a blast at the Rawlings' Game Party. If not, you probably think of board games as things like Monopoly and Candyland. Well, you’re in for a treat! Modern board games, mostly published in Europe, are fantastic: interesting decisions to make, fun interactions, and satisfying games that last 30-90 minutes. We’ll play as many and as long as you like – from classics like Settlers of Cataan, Carcasonne, and Ticket to Ride, to newer hits like Agricola, Race for the Galaxy, Alhambra, Elfenland, Puerto Rico, Bohnanza, Ingenious, Blokus, Pandemic, and many more. We will teach the games and provide food & interesting beverages.

Have you ever gazed at the fabulous rock formations in the mountains above Santa Barbara and fantasized about scaling those cold-water sandstone cliffs!? Juniper and Charlie had a fantastic time last year hosting this day of protected climbing and are offering it again. This time for four families split on two separate occasions. Charlie is a Certified Rock Instructor with American Mountain Guide Association and climbs with his wife Juniper on rocks throughout California. All gear will be provided as well as a picnic lunch.

Most of us who brave the wildness of nature take precautions and bring things like lighters, sleeping bags, tents, more food than we will ever eat, some water and maybe a wine opener. It's someone else that gets lost in the woods.... not us, right?

Well, thankfully the great skills that kept our ancestors alive have not vanished. Join us for a fun filled day of nature based activities like friction fire making, shelter building and awareness games. Pot luck lunch. Wine and cheese provided.

Wild West Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre

People are still buzzing about last year's West Coast premier of SBMS' Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre. But hang onto your hats, this year the west gets wilder! Saddle up and join us for a rootin', tootin', shootin' good time. Come explore your inner villain, outlaw, damsel in distress, rustler, gunslinger, tenderfoot, snake oil salesman, barkeep, grave robber, or undertaker. All attendees arrive in costume as a dinner guest . Then you will watch the show and be deputized to solve the murder before the sheriff does. (Heck, the sheriff may get shot, but we will not shoot the deputies.) All the actor roles are played by talented SBMS staff and parents. For those of you who have ever wanted to make a killing onstage, this is your big chance.

Grub and grog will be served on the house -- bar brawls and duels provided at no extra charge.

All guests who signed up for this party from the 2009 auction will automatically be included in this event.

"Almost Sleepover" Party

For the next couple of hours Allwyn and Brian will amuse and exhaust them! They will be making Valentine's Day themed crafts , playing games and dancing and then they will have a delicious dinner. While the children are having a blast it is the perfect opportunity for parents to seize the moment and go out on a date night. Then after your romantic child free evening collect your exhausted but happy children at 9pm. A sleepover party without the sleeping part!

Fill a Cavity Party

We will show how fillings are done (on models of course), learn about what foods are good for your teeth and the best ways to take great care of your smile. We will end the day with a visit to Scoop next door for some sugar-free gelato.... Each child will receive a Oral Hygiene package including a children's Sonicare toothbrush. ($55 value)

Joining you will be Lori Cooper a Personal Shopper and Fashion Consultant who specializes in teaching effortless dressing. Lori will help you understand which styles and colors flatter you most. She will also give advice on how to edit and enhance your current wardrobes. At the last closet party, Lori tailored (no pun intended) her advice to individual needs, shapes, sizes, tastes and styles so that even the "I-hate-to-shop" women came away feeling relaxed and comfortable.

Note: Please give your closet a spring cleaning; then bring skirts, pants, blouses, shoes, jewelry, belts, purses, scarves, etc. that you'd like to exchange with other guests.

This is your opportunity to visit behind the scenes to see how skateboards are designed and produced in Santa Barbara’s only genuine skateboard factory. Skateboarding’s steel wheeled-legend, and original member of the Makaha Skateboard Team, Jim Fitzpatrick, will guide the group with historical (and hysterical) perspective.

THE FINE PRINT

1. Party Book reservations open at the Rock the Casbah Auction Extravaganza at the Bacara Resort & Spa on Friday, May 7, 2010. Reservations cannot be accepted prior to this time. Reservations after the Auction Extravaganza may be made at the SBMS office in the Official Party Book. Payment must be made at time of sign-up.

2. Registration is on a “first-come, first-paid” basis. Prices are fixed. Full payment must be made at the time of reservation. Please do not place your Party Book volunteers in an awkward position by asking them to “hold” party space without payment.

3. While it is possible to purchase all spots for a single event, our goal is to encourage SBMS families to get to know one another and sign up for a variety of parties. And, of course, friends of SBMS families are always welcome to participate!

4. Be aware that parties may sell out quickly, at which point a waiting list will be created.

5. All sales are final. If you buy a reservation for a party and later discover that you cannot attend no refunds on your donation will be made.

6. Several weeks prior to the actual party date, guests will receive invitations with pertinent information – maps, directions, special details, etc. – by the party host.
